Some impressions of the Lanforce 2001 in Gerlafingen, Switzerland
2.-4.11.2001

When I got there, into the huge halls of the Gerlafingen steel works, there were already roughly 400-450 people in the hall, about 380 of them with their own PCs, the rest being staff and visitors. Games played were CounterStrike, Quake 3 Arena, Unreal Tournament, Age of Empires 2, Team Fortress and many others. The official programme included 4v4 TDM tournaments in both CS and Q3, as well as 1vs1 duels in AoE2. From the small impression I got during my 4 hour stay, I guess most people had a lot of fun, even if the servers and internet backbone sometimes had a hard time keeping up with the enormous traffic due to downloads and leechings, but I'd give kudos to the organisators anyway...for only 14.- entry fee (about 8$), it was an excellent service.
I'll give you more info once the party has ended, things such as winners of the contests etc. Until then, or if you want more information on this event (which is going to come again), visit the Lanforce homepage at www.lanforce.ch.

Please pardon the poor quality of the images, but due to the lack of a digital camera, I was forced to use both a DV camera (those are the pictures my friend took for me) and an APS camera (the scans following soon).
Next time, you'll definitely meet me there again, probabyl as the first Mac user kicking some serious Wintel ass:)
